Description
This truffle hunting tour takes you into the forest of Motovun, setting off from Livade, where you meet your guide and the dogs that do the actual searching. The walk lasts about 90 minutes through dense woods that shelter wild game, and the aim is simple: find black truffles under the damp soil.
Along the way you hear how the dogs are trained, what makes the local microclimate so good for truffles, and how the forest works as an ecosystem. Your companion is the local truffle hunter Nikola Tarandek, whose work caught the attention of the New York Times.
- A guided walk through the forest of Motovun
- Trained dogs working the soil for wild truffles
- Boots and rain jackets, if the weather calls for them
When the hunt is over, you can sit down in a local restaurant for a two-course meal built around truffles, or choose the optional three-course lunch, with a local wine poured with every course. Lunch is paid separately. The walk finishes back at the meeting point in Livade.
