Description
The truffle hunting tour in Paladini takes place in a small village surrounded by nature, home to Karlić tartufi, three generations of truffle hunters. It begins with a short talk about truffles and a welcome drink of truffle liquor.
Then the dogs lead the way. You first cross the plantation of black truffles the family planted more than ten years ago, the first one in Croatia, and look for truffles there. After that you enter the old forest where truffle hunting in Istria began, and your job is to encourage the dogs to find the treasure. The tour runs in rain or shine.
The hunt ends at the table, in a tasting hall facing a forest more than 150 years old. The menu has three courses, all with truffles:
- canapés and cheese with truffle, sausages, honey, olive oil and balsamic vinegar
- scrambled eggs with fresh truffles, cooked in front of you; you can help or just watch
- a mini donut with truffella inside, a truffle version of a hazelnut spread
Homemade white and red wine from grandma Danica, the family's first generation, go with the food. Count about three hours.
