Description
This walking tour of Trieste begins right at the cruise port, so it suits anyone arriving by ship who wants a local guide to themselves. It lasts two and a half hours, and from the port you walk into old streets and alleys, past historic buildings, toward the heart of a city many travellers overlook.
The first stop is Piazza Cavana, with its historic buildings, fruit markets and craft fairs. Next come the Castle and the cathedral of San Giusto, hinting at the medieval city, followed by the ancient Roman Theatre and the church of Santa Maria Maggiore. You also pass San Silvestro.
In Borgo Teresiano you stroll by elegant buildings and the Grand Canal, and the guide leads you to several panoramic spots over the city, the harbour and the Adriatic, so bring a camera.
