Description
The Miramare Castle family tour replaces the traditional visit with storytelling made for kids between 6 and 13 and their families. The guide borrows the voice of Max, a cat that really lived at the castle for almost two decades, and the park and rooms unfold one short story at a time.
The stories come from the lives of Maximilian of Mexico and Charlotte of Belgium, who had Miramare built as their dream home by the sea. In the park, children learn how exotic plants arrived from distant lands and why they are not native here, and that statues and landscapes were designed to shape how a visitor feels. At the cannons the surprise is that they served celebrations rather than war. Inside, children step into real rooms such as bedrooms, the library and dining halls, and think about how people actually lived.
