Description
Trieste has one foot in the Mediterranean and one in Central Europe, and this food tour reads that story through its dishes, over about three hours on foot with a local expert. The route covers two districts: the busy lanes of Cavana in the old town, then the refined streets of Borgo Teresiano, a district the Habsburg Empire shaped.
You stop at traditional eateries and gourmet spots that locals like, tasting something different at each one. The dishes change with the season and with what is available, and they show a cooking split between land and sea, old habits and new ideas.
