Description
A wine tasting in Trieste city center puts the flavours of Friuli Venezia Giulia in a single hour, in an intimate venue in the middle of the city. A live guide leads the tasting, so every pour comes with context.
The order is planned. You begin with a pair of extra virgin olive oils that differ in aroma and in the story of where they are grown. A sparkling wine follows and introduces the Prosecco tradition of the region, then come a white and a red chosen to show native grapes, and finally a liqueur made from local herbs and roots. Small gourmet bites accompany the drinks: artisanal cheese, cured meat and specialities from the Karst plateau above the city.
Between tastes, the guide talks about the grapes, the winemaking, the climate and the farmers who keep old traditions going, and about how Prosecco took root in these hills.
- Two olive oils and three wines
- One herbal liqueur
- Three food pairings; vegetarian options on request
It suits seasoned wine lovers and the simply curious alike. Tell the host about vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free or celiac needs in advance. The tasting runs in English and Italian; extra food and wine and a vineyard walk are not part of it.
