The Museum of the Giovanni Scaramangà di Altomonte Foundation is a private collection on the history of Trieste, in the neoclassical palazzo that was the family's home. It is for those who love the city of old, seen through the papers and objects of the people who lived there.
Inside you'll find prints and maps of the city, manuscripts, books, furniture, paintings, coins and miniatures: very different pieces, held together by a passion for Trieste.
Giovanni Scaramangà was a prominent figure in Trieste society in the first half of the 20th century and spent his whole life collecting documents and works of art linked to the city's history. After his death the foundation that bears his name went on buying new pieces and looking after their restoration.
